Re-using rainwater for smart irrigation: the case of greenhouse roses
Irrigation system of 100 ha of hydroponic greenhouse roses. The greenhouse surface is covered by a plastic film and rainwater cannot reach the ground. Irritec designed a system to convey rainwater to a reservoir where it is collected to be reused for irrigation purposes. Moreover the nutritive solution not absorbed by the plants is collected in special tanks, sanitized for reuse in the fertigation system.

In Developing Countries, Irritec experts contribute to the skills development of local workers, who learn how to optimize their resources to get higher yields for food self-sufficiency first. As a step forward, Irritec aims at helping such farmers to make agriculture their source of income, too. Following a gradual approach, Irritec starts by transferring the basics of smart irrigation through the Irrigo kit, a handy and easy to assemble tool which is the ideal start-up solution in the countries where energy resources are lacking.
